For Los Angeles-based costume designer and stylist Faithima Wright, storytelling doesn’t begin with words—it begins with fabric, fit, and feeling. Whether on set or off the clock, Faithima moves through the world with intention, grace, and a quiet power shaped by experience.

Her personal mantra, “Whatever feels good to your soul… do that,” is more than a guiding phrase—it’s a daily practice. “I’m finding joy in the little things—music, family, trying new bookstores and museums,” she says. “Life is art, and I want to be more intentional about enjoying it.”

While her aesthetic is bold and expressive, the path behind it hasn’t always been easy. Battling imposter syndrome and social anxiety, Faithima once found herself shrinking in spaces where she didn’t belong. “I’ve held myself back tremendously,” she admits. “But once I started facing my fears, I realized my true power. I’m still learning, but now I’m comfortable in my discomfort.”

That deep emotional insight translates directly into her work. Faithima doesn’t just dress actors—she builds characters. “As a maladaptive daydreamer, I naturally create stories in my head,” she explains. “I think about my character’s daily life, their quirks, personality—then I use that information to craft their wardrobe.”

For Faithima, fittings are sacred. “That’s where the magic happens,” she says. “You see the actor transform. Some even show up already in character, and I’m speaking to that person for the first time through what they wear.”

Having worked in both film and television, Faithima has mastered the art of balancing creativity with logistics. Her design process begins with detailed schedules, mood boards, and character blueprints. “You have to be realistic,” she notes. “Sometimes we build costumes from scratch. Other times, we source ready-made pieces. Delegating is key. It takes a vision—and a village.”

In a fast-paced, competitive industry, Faithima Wright stands out not just for her style, but for her soul. She’s a designer who sees beyond the clothes and into the heart of a character—and in doing so, she reminds us all to show up fully, with courage, creativity, and care.
