People of Color Beauty

Jacqueline Carrington is no stranger to creating impact from a place of personal truth. As the founder of People of Color, a non toxic, vegan, cruelty free nail polish brand made to complement the beautiful spectrum of brown skin tones, she continues to redefine inclusivity in beauty, one collection at a time.

Her journey began with a simple but powerful spark: her daughter’s fascination with nail polish.

That curiosity rekindled Jacqueline’s own childhood memories, growing up as a basketball player who never saw nail polish shades that felt made for her. “I skipped wearing polish because I didn’t see myself in the colors or the ads,” she recalls. Now I create collections that tell our stories; our way.

Since launching in 2019, Jacqueline has built a brand that centers representation and uplifts an often overlooked audience.

People of Color has grown into a community driven brand, celebrating global diversity through color storytelling.

From being the first nail polish brand sold in all Urban Outfitters locations across the U.S. and Canada to being featured on Good Morning America and Oprah’s Favorite Things 2024, her accomplishments are as vibrant as her polish line.

Yet, like many entrepreneurs, Jacqueline is currently navigating one of her greatest challenges.

Following the Oprah feature, inventory didn’t move as projected, leaving the brand with a significant balance to their manufacturer. Still, her response is rooted in resilience; not retreat.

“We launched a campaign to sell 1,200 Gift Sets. That will cover our balance, allow us to restock essentials, and re-launch the Desi Vibes collection,” she says.

To aspiring women entrepreneurs, Jacqueline’s advice is straightforward but mighty: “Do what you can, and let God do the rest.” She believes small businesses deserve to be seen in all seasons, not just the successful ones.

Her message is clear: Even in struggle, there is a story worth telling.

Jacqueline is a visionary and a vessel. She reminds us that beauty is more than aesthetic; it’s about being seen, celebrated, and empowered.
